The historic Silk Road, a network that once facilitated the exchange of trade, culture, and ideas between East and West, is poised for a modern revival—this time, on two wheels. At the heart of this endeavor lies EurasiaVelo, a visionary project aiming to connect the European EuroVelo network with burgeoning Asian cycling routes, with Turkey strategically positioned as the central hub.

The Silk Road, a conduit for civilizations, fostered connections that transcended borders, promoting brotherhood and friendship. Now, EurasiaVelo seeks to rekindle this spirit by transforming ancient camel caravan routes into modern bicycle pathways. Turkey, a natural bridge between Asia and Europe, holds a pivotal role in this transformation, leveraging its rich historical and cultural tapestry to become a premier cycling destination.

  • Mobile Applications: User-friendly mobile applications to provide on-the-go access to essential services and route information.

  • Corporate Collaboration: Integration of bicycle routes developed by governmental and municipal bodies, along with the creation of new routes where needed.

  • Visual Documentation: Aerial drone footage and on-the-ground GoPro and camera recordings to provide cyclists with a realistic preview of routes.

  • Promotion of Bicycle Tourism: Encouraging the development of bicycle-friendly infrastructure and services, including hotels and safe tour operators.

  • International Outreach: Attracting cyclists from Europe and Asia through targeted promotions and traveler blogs.

Turkey's Strategic Role:

EurasiaVelo recognizes Turkey's strategic, geographical, cultural, and historical significance. By positioning Turkey as the nexus of this Eurasian cycling network, the project aims to:

  • Enhance Turkey's global strategic importance through the Silk Road revival.

  • Boost Turkey's share of the burgeoning bicycle tourism market.

  • Establish safe and accessible cycling routes that highlight Turkey's cultural and natural treasures.
